Drupal Web Design

drupal_0What is Drupal you ask?

Drupal is the #1 platform for web content management among global enterprises, governments, higher education institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Flexible and highly scalable, Drupal publishes a single web site and shares content in multiple languages across many devices. Technology and business leaders transform content management into powerful digital solutions with Drupal, which is backed by one of the world’s most innovative open source communities.

Businesses worldwide power digital innovation with Drupal as their platform. In fact Drupal is used by over 1,000,000 organizations including The White House, Pfizer, Harvard University, The Economist, Tesla Motors, the Government of Australia, and Time Inc.

The Technology

Professionals web designers need reliability, security, and the flexibility to create the features they want without extra or useless features they just don’t need. What they need is a platform with a strong architecture, integrating with third-party applications. Drupal provides all this and more, conforming to their technical and business requirements, not the other way around.

The Mission

National Technical Honor Society is one of our Drupal CMS sites that we have not only setup and maintained the Drupal installation but we have customized the entire back-end of the site to manage NTHS’s association membership system. They wanted a provider who could not only develop a standard CMS but who could also customize their web application to meet their growing needs.

The Goal

Our goal was to create a site that was not only functional from a user perspective but also functional from an Advisor and Admin perspective as well. The site had to be flexible and have the ability to grow with the needs of NTHS.

The Work and Why We’re Proud of It

We’re proud of this site because we were able to develop a site that was customized to particular functions that were required by NTHS to be able to speed up its production while servicing their members and advisors. We developed one very special function that allows NTHS to click one button from the back-end and print all of their order. Does not sound like a lot but when you calculate the number of pieces of paper that they ship out it is quite massive.

Top 10 Reasons You have to Consider Drupal for Your Ecommerce Store Website

Wednesday, June 24th, 2015

Digital agencies are able to provide a wide range of services to clients, all thanks to advanced CMSs available these days. At a time, they may be engaged in developing a b2b website for a business to share data with multiple vendors, or may be developing an e-commerce website for an online retail business. A lot of businesses prefer to have their Content Management System strategy built around Drupal due to various reasons.

drupal - logo-boutros-abichedid

Following are the 10 reasons for the popularity and preference of Drupal among digital agencies and businesses.

1. Now Drupal is Easy to Learn

Older versions of Drupal were considered fairly complex, especially for new users, as compared to other systems. But thanks to better online help service, dedicated IRC channels, and growing number of online forums, it has now become easier to learn how to have complete command over Drupal effectively. Apart from these, a lot of eBooks and instructional manual are available aimed at teaching developers of different expertise levels and familiarity with Drupal.

2. Drupal’s Growing Community

Drupal’s community of developers and users is constantly growing at a steady pace. Here are some recent statistics:

  • There are over 35,000 developer accounts and over 1,119,000 user accounts of Drupal.
  • The attendance semiannual Drupal conferences which are held at different locations in America and Europe has grown from 500 to 3,700 experts, from 2008 to up till now, showing the increasing support of developers all around the world.
  • Over 30 national communities from around the globe are offering a language-specific support to Drupal.
  • There has been a substantial increase seen in the active Drupal discussion groups, forums and mailing lists along with several IRC channels on the Freenode network.

3. Security Better than Any Other Platform

Security is, without a doubt, a highlighting point of Drupal. It is Drupal’s biggest differentiator from other platforms, as it provides enterprise level security and website scale. This is the reason why most high profile government websites are built using Drupal; for example, Whitehouse.gov.

4. Advanced URL Control

Drupal has a unique feature of providing precise control over URL structure, unlike any other platform. It provides the benefit of giving a custom URL to each item of content. URL structures can also be automated for each type of content with Pathauto Module. As compared to other CMSs, content pages in Drupal have ‘cleaner’ URLs.

5. Continuous Improvement

Drupal is an open source CMS and it is continuously being improved by the large community of developers who are currently using it for development. Technology updates and new features are introduced from time to time with greater refinements and lesser requirement for bug fixes. Constant iteration of Drupal ensures that it never gets antiquated.

6. Taxonomy

Drupal has a strong and robust taxonomy system that enables the users to organize and tag content. Each of Drupal’s set of categories can be restricted to specific content types, while it also offers the option of hierarchical categories, with multiple parent categories. The advanced taxonomy features of Drupal, which are combined with Views and CCK, enables the user to target all the potential long tail keywords easily that are researched using Wordtracker.

7. Third Party Integration

Drupal has now thousands of modules available, which makes it easier and quicker to integrate with third-party analytics services such as Piwik, Google Analytics, and social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

8. Greater Accessibility

With Drupal’s latest 7.0 version (8 currently in testing phase), web accessibility has been enhanced significantly by the Drupal community. These improvements ensure better experience for both administrator and visitor sides of Drupal. Some highlighting improvements include:

  • Drag and drop functionality.
  • Option for adding labels for input forms by default.
  • Improved color intensity and contrast.
  • Consistent methods for fixing CSS display for exposing and hiding text under focus.
  • Adding skip navigation to Core themes.

9. Multi-lingual Support

Drupal currently supports 110 different languages with right to left integration for languages such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian. Developers and users from all over the world are able to use Drupal, as its multi-language support feature strikes down all the linguistic barriers.

10. Documentation

Excellent documentation comprising of guidelines and instructions which includes official handbooks, numerous tutorials, videos, podcasts, blogs, massive API Reference and the Pro Drupal Development book

WordPress Web Site – Iced for You

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Iced for You a new WordPress web site that we developed. What is Iced for You? Well, it provides customers high quality gourmet cupcake products made with love and the best ingredients, with customization options only limited by the imagination.

The Mission
Design a WordPress CMS site for Iced for You. Make the site a custom one-of-a-kind WordPress CMS design that complemented the logo, colors, and captured the creations of Iced for You. Make sure that the site could be maintained by the owner and proprietor Courtney Tessler.

The Goal
Our goal was to develop a web site that was not only easily maintainable by the owner and staff. Another goal of Mojoe.net‘s was to make sure that the design of the site represented the gourmet cake creations so the visiting customers would leave the site wanting a delicious tasting cupcake.  This being a WordPress web site we not only had to set this site up but configure it as well.

The Work and Why We’re Proud of It
We are extremely proud of this web site and hungry after looking at it. We wanted a site that really showed off the cupcakes and with the photography that we provided and our design. We believe that we have accomplished the main goal of our customer to make her one-of-a-kind creations stand out on the site. The site has been being maintained by Courtney and she rarely if ever calls upon us to help her with the site.

Drupal Web Site – National Technical Honor Society

Friday, December 28th, 2012

We recently completed the National Technical Honor Society new web site. We added not only a fully functional CMS in Drupal but we also created a one-of-a-kind membership management system that allows the NTHS team to administrate the entire membership of NTHS. They can also manage all of their online orders, applications, invoices, alumni, reports, and directory. This is all custom built into a Drupal CMS.

WordPress Greenville
WordPress web sites in Greenville, South Carolina are becoming extremely popular over the last twelve months. As a development company in the Greenville area we have gone from doing 1 or 2 wordpress web site in and around the surrounding areas in greenville over the last several years to doing 2 or 3 wordpress web sites a month.

Over the last few months we have launched the following WordPress web sites: www.pedalchic.com, www.diamondlandscapingsc.com, www.campbellcranerental.net, www.icedforyou.com, www.alphafireandsafety.com, www.cashcarrental.com, www.thepalmettomortuary.com, www.mysolor.com, www.thepieratclemson.com, and www.thekempgroup.com

All of these WordPress web sites where created because the business or individual wanted a site that they could easily update and maintain. Another important key feature was the ability to expand the web site over time. They wanted to do this in several different ways some wanted to add more content to their site, some wanted to add more functions; such as, e-commerce, custom forms, membership enrollment and social plugins. Finally and of course the most important key feature/function the ability to BLOG. This function is built into WordPress and offers quite an abundant amount of control over your blog where as other content management systems do not offer the same ability. You can control the categories, tags, search engine optimization, comments or no comments, adding pictures, adding social information, and the list goes on and on, and on…..

Blogging is becoming the new way to communicate your ideas, thoughts, products and services in a constructive and non-formal way to get your knowledge across to the visitors of your web site. WordPress was founded as a blogging system initially and has evolved into a content management system with hundreds of thousand plugins that allow you to do all sorts of functions and interactions with your visitors.

Here are two WordPress web sites that we recently launched and we are quite proud of them. One is The Get In Shape Girl. Not only did we custom design the WordPress theme; we designed the logo and added in some very custom functionality.

Content Management Systems AKA (CMS) | Web Design Greenville, SC

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, and DotNetNuke….Oh My!

Which content management system to use? What happens if my site is done in one content management system but my developer quits, takes up another job, or decides not to be a web developer anymore? Then, with some CMS, the developer or the company that created your site you are stuck. Why, you may ask? Well the reason is easy: Most CMSs are fundamentally complex because they are powerful;  require time to learn; and most web hosting companies only know one or two major CMS. Here at Mojoe.net  we have used all of them—at least the four major types– in some form or fashion and we have to say that while some are free to download and use they require the user to navigate risky file downloads from the internet and navigating ‘permissions’ on web server for files and databases.  Here our expertise is critical.

The two main ones that we use and support are WordPress (WP) and DotNetNuke (DNN). We have also used Joomla and Drupal for clients who have required that we use their preferred or ‘legacy’ CMS when deploying or developing their web sites.

WordPress, is a great free CMS that allows anyone to maintain their web site;  WP  includes a blog, e-commerce, videos, slideshow, or 1000s other plugins– a vast majority of them free. WordPress has been around since about 2001 and has grown into a well-supported CMS with themes, plugins, and mobile support. WordPress, can be installed with Apache or IIS Web Server and uses MySQL as the database engine. We recommend this to our clients that would like a small to medium web site that they can grow themselves. We even use the system ourselves for our own blog. We have the ability to customize our clients theme by styling each WordPress via a custom cascading style sheet (CSS); plugins; Google Analytics; tags; categories; and then submit the site to search engines.  You can find out more about WordPress by visiting: http://wordpress.org/about/,

DotNetNuke (DNN) is our premium CMS and is the one that we recommend for clients that are looking for medium to large business web sites. This CMS is based off of ASP.net which is conveniently integrated into other business applications based on Microsoft’s .NET platform. DNN can be installed in IIS and typically uses SQL Server for its database engine. DNN has a free version as well as an enterprise version. We use the enterprise version for our clients which allow for developer support as well as we can customize each web site ‘portal’ to each specific client. This CMS allows the installation of modules which can be added some for free but the majority cost to add to the system. The cost can vary depending upon the type of modules that you wished installed, modules can vary from chat systems, ecommerce, newsletters, email blasting, blogs, video, slideshow rotation, wiki, RSS feed, announcements, Google Analytic, and many more.  The great thing about Mojoe.net is that we can program our own modules, custom design your ‘skin’ (the look, feel, layout, fonts, and colors of your web site), create a custom CSS, optimize your site, add Google Analytics, and then submit the site to search engines. If you would like more information you can visit: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/

Drupal. This is a free content management system that is community supported but can be troublesome at time. This system uses PHP and can run on Apache or IIS while using MySQL as its database engine. In the last year,or so though the support and the community have grown a great deal, and the number of themes that are available run in the thousands. Drupal, is a good content management system but to integrate into other business applications without long development times and bugs can be an issue that can cost time and money. To find out more about Drupal please visit: http://drupal.org/

Joomla, this is another free content management system that is community supported and has its bugs.  This CMS can run on Apache or IIS web server and uses MySQL as its database engine. Joomla, is the most recent CMS (2005) from the 4 CMS in this post. We recommend this one the least because of its issues as well as the fact that the support base for this CMS has not grown has fast as the others. This CMS uses PHP and is primarily deployed on Linux-based OS (Operating System) but can be deployed on Windows Servers just like Drupal. To find out more about Joomla please visit: http://www.joomla.org/

Ask Questions, Questions, Questions
So in conclusion, do your homework about what CMS you would like to use, see if your web design company or web developer knows more than one CMS, check and see how difficult or easy it will be to move your site to another hosting company / provider. Find out what platform your web site is using, such as Linux or Windows? What CMS is your web developer using? Do they know more than one CMS? If so what are they?

What about Mac and Magento? – I will save this for another post all unto itself.
